CHILLIDA Eduardo
Eduardo Chillida, Basque sculptor and engraver, was born on January 10, 1924 in San Sebastian, Spain. He abandoned small-scale sculpture and moved on to the design of monumental works where abstraction is based on the highlighting of voids and the variability of forms. Alongside his sculpture, Chillida continued to work as a draughtsman and engraver. His works on paper are an important part of his creation. In ink, pencil, or through the technique of engraving, his works follow the same principle as his sculptures. In the 1970s he became a renowned sculptor who exhibited alongside Miró and Picasso. He died on August 19th 2002.
