Jean-Michel Folon born in March 1934 in Uccle is a Belgian watercolorist, painter, engraver and sculptor. He has worked on many materials and created in various forms: watercolour, painting, engraving, sculpture, tapestry, postage stamps, theatre sets. Folon's style is easily recognizable. An increased use of watercolour, fine and subtle colour gradations, characters with schematic contours, faces emptied of all emotion, looking lost. He has established himself as an essential figure in the world of illustration, and participates in grandiose projects. He died in 2005 in Monaco.
