Alfons Blomme, Belgian painter and engraver, was born on 2 February 1889 in Roeselare. During his studies in Brussels he came into contact with Art Nouveau and Neo-Impressionism. After the discovery of the technique of Emile Claus, he used his own line technique, a variant of pointillism. His many travels inspired him to create landscapes, townscapes and representations of buildings. He also made sketches and sculptures. He died on 10 June 1979.
